Bruuns Arkade, Bruuns Bro, Aarhus, 2002.
Steen Mengel’s inquiry to Johannes Exner was in March 2000.
The architecture draws inspiration from the railway in both form and materials.
The building is situated on Bruuns Bro, inspired partly by the former bazaar building on the bridge,
and partly by the bridge over the River Arno in Italy, the Ponte Vecchio, which has shops on both sides.
In 2016, Banedanmark announced plans to raise Bruuns Bro by 1.5 metres
to gain more space for the future electrification of the railway network.
Consequently, there is a risk that Bruuns Arkade will be demolished, despite protests.
