Marselisvej 19

Marselisvej 19, Aarhus, built in 1909.
Sold in 1916, 1924, 1939, 1954, 1963, 1968, 1971 and 2015.
The house had had seven different owners before 1971, when we bought it. These included Århus Friskole, which occupied the property for 15 years, with a school playground in what is now the garden, and a student co-operative, which was there when we bought the house.

The house was designed by the architect Egil Fischer for the 1909 National Exhibition, in keeping with the other villas on the eastern side of Marselisvej. It has been extended and added to several times since then, by the architects W. Puck, Johannes Frederiksen and Ejvind Draiby.

Inger and Johannes Exner lived here and ran their architectural practice from 1971 to 2015. We laid out the garden, inspired by Sven-Ingvar Andersson, with larch trees and topiary yews, which were cared for solely by Johannes for 44 years.
