Koldinghus, restoration 1972-1992
Christian III’s Chapel in the south-west corner of Koldinghus. Christian III, the ‘King of the Reformation’ (1534–59), built Denmark’s first two-storey Protestant church with a gallery. It is similar to ‘Queen Dorothea’s Chapel’, built almost at the same time at Sønderborg Castle. The former ‘Room of the Word’, which had four tall windows facing west and south, has been converted into an auditorium.
